Allowance: Competitive rates (Based on experience & class load)

Terms: Part-Time / Contract (Pathway to Full Time)

Location: Kuala Lumpur (Setapak, Wangsa Maju, Gombak)

Language: English, Malay, or Mandarin

ST Badminton Academy is seeking a dedicated Badminton Foundation Coach to lead group classes for kids and juniors. This role is not simply about feeding shuttles; it is about being an educator. You must be able to spot incorrect habits, fix grips, and guide students according to our Professional Badminton Foundation (PBF) Level 1 syllabus.

What to Expect: You will be responsible for the student’s progress. This means correcting footwork repeatedly, ensuring safety, and communicating with parents. If you are looking for a place to just “play games” with kids, this is not the right team for you. We value discipline, structure, and genuine education.

Coaching Duties:

– Lead small group badminton classes for beginners and juniors (ages 7-15).

– Implement the STBA lesson plan (warm-up, footwork drills, skill training).

– Identify bad habits (e.g., panhandle grip, flat footwork) and correct them immediately.

– Prepare students for internal skill assessments and PBF Level 1 tests.

– Communicate clearly with parents regarding their child’s attendance and improvement.

– Arrive 15 minutes early to set up nets and welcome students.

– Maintain a professional image and ensure class discipline.

Requirements:

Strong foundation knowledge (State/District player background preferred)

BAM or Sports Science certificate is a bonus, but not mandatory
Able to demonstrate correct footwork and strokes clearly
Punctual, disciplined, and role model for kids

2+ years of experience coaching groups or kids

Able to command class attention respectfully
No smoking / vaping before or during class
Passion for educational badminton, not just social games

Assistant Badminton Coach

Allowance: Hourly Rate (Part-Time / Weekend)

Terms: Part-Time (Ideal for students or fresh grads)

Location: Kuala Lumpur & Selangor areas

Language: English, Malay, or Mandarin

ST Badminton Academy is looking for energetic individuals who want to start their coaching journey. This Assistant Coach role is perfect for ex-school players or university students who love badminton. You will work closely under a Senior Coach to manage groups, ensure safety, and learn the art of teaching.

Development: This is a learning ground. We will teach you how to feed multi-shuttles effectively, how to organize a class, and how to manage young students. If you show potential and consistency, we will support your progression into becoming a fully certified coach.

Assistant Duties:

– Assist the lead coach in setting up the hall (nets, shuttles, markers).

– Conduct proper warm-up and physical conditioning for students.

– Provide multi-shuttle feeding for basic footwork and stroke drills.

– Correct basic grip and swing errors under the supervision of the Lead Coach.

– Ensure student safety and discipline during waiting times.

– Serve as a sparring partner for junior students when required.

Requirements:

Solid basic skills (Ex-school team or active social player)

       Good physical fitness and stamina
Willing to pick up shuttles and setup nets (Humble attitude)
Available on Weekends or weekday evenings

       Must enjoy interacting with kids

       Loud and clear voice projection
Ability to accept feedback and improve feeding skills
Own transport to travel within KL/Selangor

We welcome applicants who are ex-school players, district/state players, or serious social players with a strong command of badminton basics. You do not need to be a champion player, but you must have the mindset of a teacher. If you are patient, love kids, and are willing to follow a proven syllabus (PBF Level 1), you are the right fit. We are not looking for coaches who only want to “feed and check phone”.

To understand who you will be teaching, you can view our student application page for reference.

While having a BAM certificate or Sports Science background is a great bonus, it is not mandatory. At ST Badminton Academy, we value your attitude and willingness to learn more than just a certificate. All new coaches must go through our internal training and learn the PBF Level 1 Syllabus regardless of their background.

We have opportunities for both. Many of our coaches start on a part-time basis (weekends and weekday evenings) and progress to full-time roles as they build their student base. We prioritize quality over quantity, so we ensure our coaches are well-prepared before they take on more classes.

If you are looking for a stable career in sports education, we provide the pathway. If you are just looking for quick cash without responsibility, this is not for you.

Our coaches must adhere to strict professional standards. This includes arriving 15 minutes before class, wearing proper coaching attire, and refraining from using phones during sessions. We are role models for the children.

You can read our general rules for context below.

Because we deal with children and their foundation. A wrong technique taught at a young age is very hard to correct later. Therefore, we are selective. We only want coaches who are willing to put the student’s interest first. If you are unable to reach us via phone, it is because we are on court coaching. Please use the application form or WhatsApp for a faster response.
