3. How to Do the Six Corners Footwork

The first thing you need to do is warm up with some light jogging or jumping jacks for about 5 minutes to get your muscles loose and your heart rate up. Once you’re feeling warm, head over to one of the back corners of the court. Start by doing 10 quick footwork run using the right one from one corner to the other. Be sure your feet and tiptoe use the right one close to the ground and maintain a low center of gravity throughout the exercise.
After you’ve done 10 runs, take a quick break and then proceed to do 10 smashes shadow swing from one corner diagonally across the court to the opposite corner. As with the runs, be sure to keep your right footwork and feet close to the ground while doing this portion of the exercise. When you’ve done 10 smashes, move on to doing 10 clear shots from one side of the court to the other, and make sure everything is right. Again, keep your potion, pattern, tiptoe, and footwork right.
By this point in the footwork training, you should be feeling pretty winded. Take a brief 30-second break and then proceed with 10 more shuttle runs from one corner of the court back to where you started. Finish up with 10 drop shots from one corner diagonally across to the opposite corner. Remember – form is key! Be sure not to tire yourself out too much during this last part of the exercise so that you can finish strong.
As always, be sure to stretch before and after this exercise so that you don’t pull any muscles during or after footwork training especially the lower parts like the leg and hamstring.
